Delhi High Court Denies Plea to Disqualify PM Modi from Contesting Polls for Six Years

Delhi High Court Denies Plea to Disqualify PM Modi from Contesting Polls for Six Years

On Monday, the Delhi High Court denied a request to bar Prime Minister Narendra Modi from running for office for six years.

In response to allegations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by allegedly soliciting votes in the name of “god and place of worship” during a recent speech in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, the Delhi High Court on Monday rejected a plea that sought to bar Modi from running for office ever again for six years. The plea has no merit, according to the Supreme Court.

The petitioner had contacted the court while the Election Commission had not yet made a decision regarding his representation, and the judge believed that the plea was “thoroughly misconceived.”

The petitioner assumes that the MCC has been broken. This is irrational. According to the ruling, a bench of Judge Sachin Datta rejected the plea because it lacked merit.

The prime minister was recently accused by the Congress of being an “infiltrator” against Muslims during a vote rally in Rajasthan, leading to a complaint being filed with the Election Commission.

“According to the Congress manifesto, they would share the property after calculating the gold with mothers and sisters and gathering information about it. They’ll give it to the following person: Modi had stated that Muslims had the primary claim to the nation’s resources, as stated by the government of Manmohan Singh.

“Muslims have the first claim to the nation’s resources, according to statements made before by their (the Congress) administration. In other words, who will receive this property? The people with the most children will receive it. It will be given out to the spies. Should the infiltrators receive your hard-earned money? Do you think this is okay? He continued.

Pro-Khalistan Slogans Raised During PM Justin Trudeau’s Speech in Canada: Watch Video

As Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau approached the Sikh community on Sunday at an event in Toronto to address them, the audience let out loud pro-Khalistan chants. The prime minister of Canada declared at the gathering that his government will always “protest” the “rights and freedoms” of the Sikh population in the nation. At the Khalsa Day Parade in downtown Toronto, Justin Trudeau was speaking to a crowd. “We will always be there to protect your rights and freedoms, and we will always defend your community against hatred and discrimination,” he declared, addressing the almost 800,000 Canadians of Sikh descent. One of Canada’s greatest assets, according to Justin Trudeau, is its variety; the nation’s strength comes from its differences, not from them.

“The variety of Canada is one of its biggest assets. Trudeau stated, “We are strong, not despite, but because of our differences. But, even as we acknowledge these differences, we must never forget that Sikh values are Canadian values, especially on days like today and every day.” Additionally, the PM of Canada stated that “adding more security at community centers and places of worship, including Gurdwaras,” is one way the nation is improving infrastructure and security initiatives.

It is your right to freely and intimidation-freely practice your faith. Trudeau promised, “We will always stand up and defend you for a fundamental right guaranteed in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.” On the other hand, while Trudeau speaks in a video that CPAC posted on YouTube, there is an audible chanting in the background that supports Khan. “We understand that many of you have loved ones you would like to see more often, which is why our government has negotiated a new agreement with India to add more flights and more routes between our countries, and we will keep working with our counterparts to add even more flights, including to Amritsar,” Trudeau said as he continued his speech.

The Sikh New Year and the establishment of the Sikh community in 1699 are commemorated on Vaisakhi, also known as Khalsa Day, according to the Ontario Sikhs and Gurdwaras Council (OSGC). The group has been planning an annual march down Lake Shore Boulevard for many years; according to CBC News, the council claims it is the third-largest parade in the country and that thousands of people typically attend. The timing of Trudeau’s speech coincides with a challenging period in Canada-Indian diplomatic ties. India and Canada are at odds over the death of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was identified by India. Nijjar was shot and murdered on the evening of June 18, 2023, as he left a Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia. Nijjar was classified as a terrorist by the National Investigation Agency in 2020.

BJP Grapples with Low Voter Turnout and Sexual Harassment Charges Against JD(S) Leaders

BJP Grapples with Low Voter Turnout and Sexual Harassment Charges Against JD(S) Leaders

The decrease in voting participation in the first two rounds of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections worries the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The state sections of the party have been given harsh criticism by their leaders, who have instructed their staff to step up their outreach and encourage high voter turnout. On the one hand, the party maintains that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is still a popular leader and that there is no anti-incumbency movement against it. On the other side, it worries that a decline in voting may affect its goal of gaining more than 400 seats in the 543-seat Lok Sabha and raising the vote share to 50%.

Chief ministers of states where the Bharatiya Janata Party is in power have been requested to make sure that outreach is not slack and that booth workers are visible in person rather than launching social media campaigns. The party’s youth wing, Yuva Morcha, stated on X on Sunday that the slogan “Aaye ga to Modi hi” might lead to voters becoming complacent. It stated that electors can decide not to cast a ballot if they believe Modi’s return to power is inevitable.

Allegations against JD(S) leaders

JD(S) leaders Prajwal Revanna and his father HD Revanna are accused of sexual harassment in Karnataka, which has put the party’s ally BJP in a difficult situation. Their presence has tainted the BJP’s state campaign. Even though the Karnataka Congress administration has formed a special investigation team (SIT) to look into the validity of the claims, party officials in the state have remained silent on the subject. Prajwal and HD Revanna allegedly used to sexually abuse female employees, according to the complainant in this case.

There have been several pornographic movies floating around that are allegedly of Prajwal Revanna. It looked like several of them showed sexual assault. Since the SIT’s establishment, Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, has left the nation. He asserted that the videos were phony and meant to discredit him.

The charge against the JD (S) leaders is being taken seriously by the opposition. The BJP’s woes are made worse by rumors circulating within the party that the grievances went unnoticed. The state leadership was forewarned by BJP officials in Karnataka’s Hassan district regarding charges, and they were against Prajwal Revanna’s candidacy for the Lok Sabha from the constituency. According to the report, state party chairman B.Y. Vijayendra received a letter from BJP leader Devaraje Gowda on the charges made against Prajwal Revanna. Gowda wanted to draw national officials’ attention to the issue and persuade them to break with the family.
