Joe Root Aims to Silence Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in Test Series Against India

India captain Rohit Sharma has suffered terribly at the bat in the opening two Test matches of the India-England series, and it is yet unclear how Virat Kohli will fare in his homecoming. During the five-match series, Joe Root stated that England would be content to keep the Indian legends quiet. Kohli has personal reasons for missing the Tests in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. Although it is still unclear if he will play in the next three Test matches, England’s team is ready for both Rohit, who hasn’t played well in the series so far, and captain Kohli, according to Root.

“You brought up two of the greatest players of the current age, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Naturally, there will be a focus. Within this present Indian batting lineup, we are aware of their skill and seniority. It is evident that they have a significant responsibility in this Test team. Make sure you make an effort to address them as soon as possible. It would be wonderful to try and keep them as quiet as possible during the series because they have the ability to get big scores, and we’ve been on the wrong end of that a few times,” Root stated on Jio Cinema.

Although Jasprit Bumrah’s skill has already seen him dismissed twice in two Test matches, Root, who has struggled for runs in this series, stated that there are no team meetings in the England camp for any specific opposing player.”To be honest, we no longer hold team meetings. One of the best things about our chats when we’re not playing the game is how much fun we have together and how wonderful it feels to spend time together. We don’t need to be seated in a conference room, and I believe that having the conversation over dinner is more real and true. I believe that’s when you learn the most, whether it’s from a coffee in the morning or anything else,” he continued.

England will stick to Bazball: Root

Despite trailing India by 190 runs after the first innings, England triumphed in Hyderabad to begin the five-match series on a positive note. On a respectable batting surface where India amassed 400+ runs, England was cheaply bowled out, drawing criticism to their Bazball style of play. Root stated that they were unafraid of failure in the first innings and that everyone could see how they recovered in the second.”No matter how the game turns out, we’re always going to play the way we know. It’s what has brought us success for quite some time. It’s what makes us our best selves. We’ve encountered similar circumstances before. We were far behind in the game the last time we played India in a one-off Test in England, but we were still able to close the gap. We’ve done things on a lot of previous instances that we never would have imagined we could do. Thus, we won’t give up and we won’t feel defeated in this game,” the former England captain remarked. India responded with a powerful victory, winning the second Test by 106 runs, but now the series is in the balance. Root is currently enjoying some time off from cricket with the other England cricket players in Abu Dhabi. Before the third Test in Rajkot on February 15, they will return to India.
