Enforcement Directorate Raids Premises of Arvind Kejriwal’s Personal Secretary and AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP ND Gupta

The Enforcement Directorate raided the Aam Aadmi Party and homes connected to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal secretary on Tuesday. The agency has searched ten locations linked to the personal secretary as part of its probe into money laundering in the Delhi Jal Board case. The Parliament of India member ND Gupta, as well as Kejriwal’s personal assistant Bibhav Kumar, were among the people the agency searched. AAP leader Atishi responded to the raids by saying the BJP government is attempting to frighten its leaders.

As I had mentioned yesterday, I was going to perform a ‘explosive exposé’ on ED at 10 in the morning today. The ED has been carrying out raids against AAP officials and activists since 7 am, with the aim of intimidating the AAP and putting a stop to this exposé. There are raids going on at the residences of our leader, ND Gupta, and the PA of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Rumor has it that the ED is planning on raiding AAP leaders all day. The news agency cited her as adding, “The BJP-led central government is trying to scare the AAP using the probe agencies.”

What are Enforcement Directorate’s allegations?

The former Jal Board chief engineer was detained by the agency last month in relation to the case under the PMLA statute. A businessman was also taken into custody on similar grounds. The agency claims that even though NKG Infrastructure Ltd. Jagdish Kumar Arora, the chief engineer of the Delhi Jal Board at the time, allegedly awarded the company a contract for the project even though it did not meet the technical eligibility requirements. supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of electromagnetic flow meters for a total cost of ₹38 crore. NKG Infrastructure Ltd. was able to win the bid by presenting documents that were either falsified or misleading, as was discovered during the ED’s inquiry.

After more research, it was discovered that Anil Kumar Aggarwal’s company, Integral Screws Ltd., was the subcontractor to NKG Infrastructure Ltd. Aggarwal allegedly used cash and bank transactions to bribe Jagdish Kumar Arora after receiving funds, transferring approximately ₹3 crore. Additionally, it was found that bribe payments were sent through bank accounts that belonged to Arora’s relatives and colleagues. This occurs a few days after Kejriwal was sued by the Enforcement Directorate in Delhi court for the seventh time for allegedly ignoring a summons in the Delhi excise policy case. In accordance with Section 50 of the PMLA of 2002, the agency filed a new complaint for non-attendance under Section 190 (1)(a) Cr.P.C. r/w. Section 200 Cr.P.C., 1973 r/w. IPC, Section 174, 1860 r/w. PMLA, 2002, Section 63(4).

Supreme Court Set to Hear Arvind Kejriwal and Hemant Soren’s Appeals Against ED Arrest Today

Supreme Court Set to Hear Arvind Kejriwal and Hemant Soren’s Appeals Against ED Arrest Today

On Monday, the Supreme Court will hear petitions filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren contesting their detention by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Both petitions have been heard by a bench comprising of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta, according to Live Law. Arvind Kejriwal has petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn the Delhi High Court’s ruling on April 9, which dismissed his writ suit contesting his ED arrest concerning a money laundering case involving the now-canceled Delhi tax policy. The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party is now being jailed after being arrested on March 21. Arvind Kejriwal’s response has met the ED’s counter-affidavit in the matter.

In his capacity as an attorney for Hemant Soren, senior counsel Kapil Sibal advised the Supreme Court bench that, although the verdict has not yet been issued, the Jharkhand High Court has postponed its decision on Soren’s plea contesting his arrest until the final week of February. Because of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, he requested an urgent hearing. Not only that, but he told the bench he would stay in jail after the election. The Jharkhand High Court postponed a ruling on Hemant Soren’s suit contesting his arrest in February. In his petition before the top court, Soren argued that his remand in the case was unlawful and arbitrary and that his arrest was not merited.

Hemant Soren described his detention as unlawful and deceptive. Hemant Soren filed the petition via attorney Pragya Baghel. He has requested temporary bail in the interim. After a long period of conjecture in the media, the head of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Hemant Soren, was arrested by the Enforcement Department (ED) in January in connection with the land fraud case. The Special PMLA Court in Ranchi denied Hemant Soren temporary release on Saturday. The former chief minister requested 13 days of temporary release from the court to attend his uncle’s burial. However, the court denied his request.

BJP Reacts to Arvinder Lovely’s Resignation, Highlights AAP’s Alleged Sonia Gandhi Arrest Promise

AAP has “completely obliterated the existence” of the Mallikarjun Kharge-led Delhi Congress party, the BJP said on Sunday in response to the shocking resignation of Delhi Congress head Arvinder Singh Lovely during the Lok Sabha polls due to the party’s alliance with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party. BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla brought attention to the purported inconsistencies in the AAP-Congress coalition in Delhi, reminding Arvind Kejriwal’s party of its pledge to detain Sonia Gandhi and the late former chief minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit. “The Congress party is rife with contradiction, confusion, and conflict; it lacks any kind of aim or vision. We’ve observed how this has been going, particularly in Delhi. Congress party workers were seen in the streets of Delhi demonstrating against the issuance of tickets to individuals with no connection to the city, such as Kanhaiya Kumar, who had insulted the armed forces and referred to the Naxalites as martyrs.

According to Lovely, local officials were opposed to the merger with the AAP because the latter was founded following the leveling of false accusations of corruption against the Congress, which at the time held power in both the Central and Delhi regions. The Delhi Congress unit opposed forming an agreement with a party that was founded only to accuse the Congress of being involved in contrived, fictitious, and malicious corruption. Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned, saying that “the party decided to ally with the AAP in Delhi despite that.” According to Poonawalla, the two parties only joined together for political purposes. He added that the hypocrisy of the party was the reason the leaders were quitting.

“The AAP utterly destroyed the Congress party’s reputation in Delhi by threatening to imprison Sonia Gandhi and Sheila Dikshit. The AAP’s role in the booze scam was a point of contention for the Congress. However, just because they have united for political purposes does not guarantee that the electorate will follow suit. Because its leaders are exposing Congress’s duplicity, Congress is currently unable to retain its leaders,” he stated. Arvinder Singh Lovely, who took over as head of the Delhi Congress unit in August 2023, stated that the AICC General Secretary (Delhi In-Charge) opposed a number of his choices. He also mentioned that all of the AAP’s key leaders were incarcerated. The remarks made by Kanhaiya Kumar, the contender for North-East Delhi, endearing the AAP’s leadership were deemed “ill-thought and factually incorrect” by Arvinder Singh Lovely.

“Such ill-considered and factually incorrect statements have not gone down well with the local party unit since the local party workers had an innate understanding that the alliance was a compromise—made to increase the party’s chances of victory as part of the National Alliance—rather than being done in appreciation of AAP’s false propaganda of Delhi’s development,” he continued. AAP formation occurred in 2012, following a statewide protest led by Arvind Kejriwal and his allies against the Congress government at the federal level over their demands for the appointment of Lokpal, an anti-corruption ombudsman. The AAP overthrew the Congress administration in 2013 following a 49-day partnership with the BJP.

Mamata Banerjee Health Concerns: Video Shows Slip and Fall While Boarding Helicopter in Durgapur

Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Minister, fell and fainted Saturday after boarding a helicopter in Durgapur. According to the story, the chief minister was supported by her security officers. She continued on to Asansol, where she addressed an election rally. On March 14, the 69-year-old Trinamool Congress supremo collapsed inside her Kalighat bungalow in Kolkata, injuring her forehead and nose. She needed to be admitted to the hospital for a few hours.

Banerjee’s brother, Kartik Banerjee, informed a Bengali news channel that the TMC leader had a brain concussion and had a deep gash on her forehead and nose that was bleeding heavily. The hospital director, Manimoy Bandyopadhyay, first said that Banerjee experienced “a fall within the vicinity of her home due to some push from behind.” This statement prompted widespread uncertainty and conjecture about the cause of Mamata Banerjee’s downfall.

Bandyopadhyay later explained that he just meant that the CM may have felt “a sensation of push.” “This is the impression of being pushed from behind that led to CM Banerjee’s downfall. We must treat, and we have accomplished that. Bandyopadhyay stated that what he said yesterday evening was misinterpreted. At the time, top BJP politician Suvendu Adhikari sparked outrage by allegedly mocking Banerjee’s injuries.

Addressing a rally in Khejuri, West Bengal, Adhikari stated, without identifying anyone, that “TMC’s pressure has gone down and is falling.” The TMC’s decline has only just begun at the top; it will spread to the grassroots.” The ruling TMC condemned his statements, saying they represent the BJP’s anti-women ideology “Such statements against the country’s sole woman chief minister reflect the BJP’s anti-women ideology.” We condemn such remarks and demand an apology,” West Bengal Women and Child Development Minister Shashi Panja stated.
