WTC Final 2023: Yashasvi Jaiswal starts the first net session as team India prepares for the summit match versus Australia

Yashasvi Jaiswal

With the Indian Premier League 2023 finished, Team India has started preparing for the World Test Championship 2023 final, where they will play Australia at The Oval beginning on June 7. While several players have already begun their workouts, the players that competed in the IPL 2023 championship game will soon be joining the camp in the UK and starting their preparations.

Notably, those who have arrived in the UK have begun their training; young Yashasvi Jaiswal is one among them. As one of the three standby players when Ruturaj Gaikwad withdrew due to his wedding, the 21-year-old was added to the Indian team. Jaiswal and Indian captain Rohit Sharma went to the UK in the third batch after Team India’s lineup was decided upon a few days ago.

On May 31, the International Cricket Council (ICC) released a video of Jaiswal’s first ever practise with the Indian side, during which the budding batter displayed his red-ball prowess while batting in the nets. After bowling against Jaiswal, Ravichandran Ashwin was seen giving him some advice. Later, former India captain and batting master Virat Kohli gave Jaiswal some advice.

On June 7, India and Australia will begin their quest for the World Test Championship. India will compete in the WTC final for the second time in a row, whereas Australia has never advanced to the summit match. In the first WTC Final, the Indian team played New Zealand, but ultimately fell short. India would be very confident to win the Test match after recently defeating Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy match.

During the net session, Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Rohit Sharma were seen practising their batting techniques as Shardul Thakur, Ashwin, and other bowlers began their own training. The BCCI uploaded a video of this action. India will be anxious to win an ICC trophy, which would also be their first since 2013, after losing the previous tournament.

Bowling out is narcotics. Badoni attempts a full-blooded sweep but is unsuccessful. Not a very strong case for lbw, and KKR requests the review at the last minute. With that bottom of the bat hit by Badoni, KKR has now lost both reviews.

OUT! Badoni attempts the sweep once more but is successful this time. taken with the square leg deep. Badoni leaves for a 27-ball 29 that makes no sense.

Krunal Pandya enters. begins with just one. Pooran will push this to long off for a single and then continue to strike. Once more, Narine finishes with economical figures.

Pooran has smoked this for a maximum over deep midwicket after Chakravarthy made a rank full toss. In 13.1 overs, LSG reached 100. Pooran isn’t really making much of a connection when Chakravarthy throws the ball wide outside of him. Chakravarthy crosses him again, and he misses another cut. After that six off the first ball, just four runs.
