Vidya Balan on Nepotism in Bollywood: ‘Kisi ki baap ki industry…

Vidya Balan is ready for her next romantic comedy, Do Aur Do Pyaar. The versatile actor has never shied away from trying out unusual personas. She answered questions regarding nepotism and how it affects an artist’s career in an interview.

Vidya Balan gets candid about nepotism in Bollywood.

Vidya talked candidly about her experiences with nepotism. “No nepotism or nepotism; I am here,” was her opinion. The film industry does not belong to anyone’s father; otherwise, every star child would be successful. Kisi ki baap ki industry nahi hai, nahi toh har baap ka beta, har baaap ki beti successful hote.

The actor went on, “I’ve been content doing things on my own. There were moments when I thought, “Perhaps people would have been a little kinder in those phases if I had the protection of certain people.” However, I don’t believe anyone has been able to deny me my fair share of opportunity.

Vidya Balan’s upcoming projects

Human relations are satirized in Vidya’s next film, Do Aur Do Pyaar. The movie looks at issues with infidelity and compatibility in modern couples. Along with Vidya, the film included important performances from Pratik Gandhi, Illeana D’Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy. This is Vidya’s 2024 debut release, coming after Neeyat (2023).

Richa Chadha Exposes Hypocrisy: Recounts ‘Terrible Experience with Female Producer’ Pretending to Be Feminist | Exclusive

Richa Chadha Exposes Hypocrisy: Recounts ‘Terrible Experience with Female Producer’ Pretending to Be Feminist | Exclusive

Richa Chadha has always supported feminism and spoken out against misogyny in the workplace. She frequently stands up to encourage other actresses in the business. She defended Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in an interview that went viral last year, stating, “Jalte hai log use,” and she also chastised people who made fun of the beauty queen for attending Paris Fashion Week. Richa genuinely treasures the experience she had recently, co-starring and promoting Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar alongside several strong women.

She also attended an exclusive gathering at Dia Mirza Rekhi’s Mumbai home last week with Shabana Azmi, Urmila Matondkar, Konkona Sen Sharma, Divya Dutta, Sandhya Mridul, and Tannishtha Chatterjee. “I want to see you win,”  Dia wrote when she posted the pictures to Instagram. Many people saw the post and expressed their support for them, breaking the stigma of female actresses not getting along.

But Richa admits that one woman’s victory does not translate into a victory for her in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha. “Her win isn’t my victory if it’s a poisonous lady who denigrates everyone else and has been unusually harsh to garner attention and headlines. We ought to honor each person’s development and progress.

Does it, however, occur every time? No,” she frankly informs us. Richa claims that this way of thinking is the result of her numerous negative interactions with strong female celebrities who have wronged her but put up a feminist front on social media. “I don’t suppose I believe that all women are saints. I’ve had some awful encounters with female producers who claim to be feminists on Twitter (now X), and when their checks bounce, the woman remembers.

In addition, the star, who is getting ready to have a mother, says that she doesn’t comprehend “the imposition of sisterhood on people.” “Toxic co-actors have also continuously competed with me by not providing the proper cues and turning off the lights during sequences. I cannot state that my experiences have been consistent or one-dimensional. Sisterhood is a genuine thing that can be created, cultivated, and maintained. But to comprehend and produce that, several people are needed, says Richa.

Richa says, “I think it’s an anti-feminist notion to think that women are not capable of evil.” She is discussing how the definition of feminism has been changed. That is only a stupid thing. Enough nasty ladies are in our vicinity. Women who stand up for rapists are disgusting, depraved, and evil, yet they are frequently in positions of authority. The media frequently provides them with a platform as well. “Am I supposed to just naturally assume that they’re feminists only because they have a vagina?” the Gangs of Wasseypur and Fukrey star asks again. No. I know lots of males who support feminism and plenty of women who are overtly misogynistic and oppressive. It is not a matter of gender.

Abhishek Bachchan, who is getting back into the Housefull series, is having a homecoming moment. The actor has signed on to work on the comedic production, which also stars Akshay Kumar, for the fifth installment of the movie. In the 2016 film Housefull 3, Abhishek debuted in the franchise as aspiring rapper Bunty, who is compelled by his circumstances to portray himself as disabled.

‘Happy to be back’

Abhishek is thrilled to work with Riteish Deshmukh and Akshay on the set of Housefull 5. Together on this project, Abhishek reunites with Tarun Mansukhani, with whom he collaborated on Dostana. I feel at home when I watch Housefull again because it’s one of my favorite funny shows. Abhishek said in a statement, “Working with Sajid Nadiadwala has always been a wonderful joy. Alongside other performers Akshay and Ritesh, I am excited to have a ton of fun on the sets.” Working with my good buddy Tarun Mansukhani once more excites me as well. After Dostana, I’m incredibly excited to collaborate with him once more. It will be a lot of fun doing this.

Imtiaz Ali Addresses Jab We Met 2 Rumors, Talks Kareena Kapoor Reunion | Exclusive Interview

Jab We Met 2

Imtiaz Ali Addresses Jab We Met 2 Rumors, Talks Kareena Kapoor Reunion | Exclusive Interview

A sequel to Imtiaz Ali’s smash blockbuster movie Jab We Met (2007), which starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, was reportedly in discussions to be directed last year. Shahid intimated in a June 2023 X chat session that he and Imtiaz could soon be working on a movie, which excited their fans and left many wondering whether he meant Jab We Met. The director, however, explicitly informed us that it was untrue  Imtiaz said recently, in an interview with Showsha, that there is little likelihood of a movie sequel. “Why have a sequel to Jab We Met?” he asks, laughing. People can view the first movie again if they’d like to continue enjoying it! To produce Jab We Met 2, there needs to be a backstory and a purpose. But let’s wait and see whether it does. Never give up!

2020’s Love Aaj Kal is a spiritual follow-up to 2009’s Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone film, starring Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan. The second film was a box-office failure. In response, he says, “I made Love Aaj Kal the second time, and people didn’t love it that much (laughs)” when we ask him if this is the reason he is hesitant to direct a Jab We Met sequel. I’m joking. That’s why I’m not interested in doing a Jab We Met sequel. If there isn’t a strong enough motive to make a sequel, it shouldn’t be created. He doesn’t hesitate to say, nevertheless, that he would have cherished working with Kareena once again after Jab We Met. “Whenever you work with an actor, there’s also a responsibility to not do anything just for the sake of it,” the Rockstar and Tamasha creator says, explaining why the reunion hasn’t happened yet. Reconvening should only happen if there’s a project that’s entirely different or superior to the ones you’ve previously worked on.

Imtiaz wouldn’t want their partnership to be harmed by sending her a mediocre script in order to maintain their relationship because Jab We Met proved to be such a successful venture. “I really enjoy working with Kareena, but we haven’t had the opportunity to collaborate again because nothing we’ve done together has been sufficiently different or better than it,” he says. According to Imtiaz, who is now experiencing immense success with his most recent release, Amar Singh Chamkila, “it has to be something interesting; otherwise, it’s useless.” We do not wish to make Jab We Met less memorable. It’s pointless if your next encounter working with an actor isn’t as positive as your last one was. It is how I see it.
