Threads App Surpasses 50 Million Sign-Ups in a Single Day,Igniting Instagram’s Intense Competition with Twitter.

Just in 24 hours after its Thursday launch, Threads, the new “Twitter Killer” app from Meta, has amassed 50 million users. The text-based microblogging platform is closely connected to Instagram, Meta’s well-known photo and video sharing platform. Though the rapid growth of Threads is noteworthy, it’s important to keep in mind that Meta is enticing customers to join up for Threads by leveraging its Instagram user base of over 2.35 billion active users. Competitor Twitter, however, has reportedly vowed to sue Meta while its recently hired CEO has already started to feel the heat.
According to internal data from Meta, The Verge’s Alex Heath wrote in a Threads post on Friday that the app had attracted more than 48 million new users. Joe Scannell (Threads: @joe_scannel), a different Threads user, shared a screenshot of a recent Threads sign-up number that indicated the number has now surpassed the 50 million threshold. In an effort to encourage people to sign up and use the service, Meta posts a serial number showing the user’s sign-up date on each user’s Instagram profile.
Though Threads was simultaneously released on Thursday on the software Store and Google Play store, it should be noted that not all countries have access to the software. Because of the strict privacy laws in the EU, Meta hasn’t made the service available to users there.
The software has reached to the top of app stores in a number of different nations; in India, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Threads are the top three free iOS apps. In China, where Meta’s other apps are presently restricted, the Threads app apparently climbed to the fifth spot in the App Store; Threads is anticipated to experience the same fate.
According to The Verge, the Threads app had more than 95 million posts as of Thursday and had received 190 million likes overall on the website. Elon Musk’s Twitter seems to be starting to feel the pressure. According to reports, the platform threatened legal action against Meta in a letter to CEO Mark Zuckerberg from Twitter’s attorney Alex Spirt.
Following the sudden popularity of the new Threads app, Twitter’s new CEO Linda Yaccarino wrote on Thursday that the Twitter community was “irreplaceable” because it had been created by users. The Twitter community, she continued, “can never be duplicated, even though we’re frequently imitated.”
Although the service presently lacks capabilities that users are used to on other platforms, such the ability to view a chronological feed or the option to send private messages (or DMs), Threads’ user base is anticipated to increase over the course of the next day. The company’s support materials also suggest that you cannot deactivate your Threads account without also terminating your Instagram account, demonstrating how interconnected the two are.

Apple’s iPhone 15 Production in India and Chinese Reactions: A Manufacturing Shift Impact

The iPhone 15 is now being produced locally and exported, respectively, by Foxconn, Apple’s iPhone maker, at its Sriperumbudur factory close to Tamil Nadu, India.
This year’s iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus handsets made their worldwide premiere on September 22 and went on sale in India the following day. The objective was to accelerate India’s exports to other nations and reduce the time between introduction and availability.
Apple’s iPhone 15 production in India triggered Chinese reactions
Chinese internet users have reacted to Apple’s iPhone 15 being produced in India, with many of them making attempts to propagate misinformation. These responses are a result of Apple moving its manufacturing to India from China, where formerly all iPhones were produced.
Many Chinese internet users claim that the iPhone 15 devices built in India are of worse quality, citing problems including overheating, discolouration, and chipping. Some even said that Apple switched to China-manufactured variants of the iPhone 15 because Europeans rejected the devices created in India.
They further claimed that Chinese consumers were being duped into buying iPhone 15 smartphones built in India. Some people have even written instructions on how to spot iPhone 15 phones made in India.
The manufacture of the iPhone 15 being outsourced to India has been denied, and the responses of Chinese internet users have been branded as “baseless and racist remarks.”
Apple expands local manufacturing operation in India
Apple has increased the size of its Indian manufacturing facilities. For the first time in years, Apple started building the iPhone 14 at India’s Foxconn factory in September of last year, just weeks after its official global introduction there.

Chandrayaan-3’s Prospects Dim as Lunar Night Approaches

As the lunar night approaches, prospects of resurrecting India’s Chandrayaan-3 project are dwindling. Since September 2, the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover have been sleeping inside the ship. Since sunlight returned to Shiv Shakri Point, attempts to get in touch with the lander and rover pair have failed. The likelihood of resuming connection is dwindling, though, as the lunar night begins on September 30.
The lunar night goes on for around 14 Earth days and carries outrageous cold and outright murkiness to the lunar surface. Temperatures can decrease to as low as short 180 degrees Celsius, making it inconceivable for any innovation to work. This represents a huge issue for the Vikram lander and Pragyan wanderer, as they depend on daylight to work. The Indian Space Exploration Association (ISRO) had recently communicated trust that the rocket would endure the cruel states of the lunar evening. Sadly, as the night moves close, these expectations are reducing.
Extreme cold and complete darkness are the hallmarks of the lunar night, which lasts for almost 14 Earth days. The lunar surface can get as cold as minus 180 degrees Celsius during this time, rendering all electronics inoperable.
For Vikram and Pragyan, who depend on sunshine for their survival, this is a serious issue.
Earlier, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) voiced hope that the spacecraft may endure the challenging lunar night environment. An ISRO official had earlier remarked, “If it survives one night, it will survive many more lunar nights.” These hopes are starting to dwindle, though, as the lunar night approaches.
On August 23, Chandrayaan-3, India’s daring lunar exploration mission, made a successful soft landing on the moon.

Sadly, neither Pragyan nor Vikram are intended to travel back to Earth. Although the mission’s duration on Earth was just 14 days, Isro had hoped for a comeback.
The globe waits anxiously as the lunar night approaches, hoping without hope that the sleeping spaceship would give off some sort of life sign.
Despite waning optimism, Chandrayaan-3 has already produced useful information about the lunar surface. While the LIBS verified the presence of Sulphur, the APXS payload on board the rover found the presence of minor elements. These discoveries will surely advance our knowledge of the Moon’s structure.
