The moment MS Dhoni started enjoying Dinesh Karthik’s commentary
Dinesh Karthik’s reputation has grown all around the world ever since he made his commentary debut in the summer of 2021 in England. Karthik has a growing fan following for his commentary, but he feels even more unique because of one particular supporter.
And the particular supporter is none other than MS Dhoni, who recently called Karthik to wish him luck, according to Karthik. In the middle of the 2000s, Karthik was expected to take over as India’s wicketkeeper, but Dhoni, who had been unstoppable for around 14 years, won the position. Karthik, the Tamil Nadu gloveman, frequently admired Dhoni despite the fact that this made him the team’s second-choice option.
Dhoni had the opportunity to repay the favor this time. “My biggest compliment came from MS Dhoni, who I least expected to. I really liked the remark, he stated over the phone to me. Very good. Good job. Wow, thank you very much, I thought. Obviously, he watches a lot of this sport, so that is significant. And so, hearing him say that was excellent. And I’m glad you liked my opinion, Karthik stated on the RCB Podcast.
Karthik is a favorite among many because of his in-depth relationships with several of the current players and his training with them, which have enabled him to provide insights that others have not been able to. “I appreciated providing analysis throughout my few appearances. I believe I loved talking about the game and analyzing it in great detail while also attempting to convey something significant to everyone watching this sport. So, you see, I always attempted to interpret events in my own way and to express them as I perceived them,” Karthik added.
Although Dhoni’s presence and the addition of Rishabh Pant prevented Karthik from securing a spot in India’s squad, he claimed that he is now upset.
“I suppose it would feel extremely different if I were a very angry cricketer. I’m happy in a lot of ways. As a human, I believe that this causes me to view things quite differently. I can always say, “Wah!” when I see someone like Virat Kohli. His life must be amazing. Instead, I might consider someone who has started the race before me and think, “Well, I’m in a much better situation than I would like, so I’ve always looked at it that way,” he added.

The team has had star-studded overseas players in the past, including the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Matthew Hayden, Mike Hussey, and Brendon McCullum, but none have had the sort of reception that Stokes has managed to pull off so far.

The latest buzz on social media is the picture of Ravindra Jadeja and Ben Stokes donning the Chennai Super Kings jersey together. Fans couldn’t contain their excitement as they witnessed two of the best all-rounders in the cricket world playing for the same team in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Jadeja has been a star player in the CSK roster, while Stokes was acquired during the auction ahead of the 16th edition of the T20 league.
The picture of the two players sitting together in a training session went viral on social media, with fans comparing the duo to football legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo playing for the same team. The Chennai Super Kings shared the picture on their official Twitter handle, setting the micro-blogging site on fire.
Some fans are even speculating that Stokes could be a potential captaincy candidate for the team, especially with MS Dhoni expected to leave the franchise in a season or two. Meanwhile, Chennai successfully acquired Stokes’ services at a staggering price of Rs. 16.25 Cr during the IPL 2023 auction, after engaging in a bidding war with PBKS for Curran.
If Dhoni decides to retire from the franchise after this season, Stokes could be given the responsibility, given his success as England’s Test captain. Apart from Stokes, CSK also bought Ajinkya Rahane at a base price of Rs. 50 lakh. Interestingly, Dhoni, Stokes, and Rahane had previously played together for the Rising Pune Supergiants in IPL 2017.
