Rohit Sharma’s ‘That’s What Captain Wants’ Comment Sparks Social Media Debate: Fans Speculate His Demeanor Amidst Dressing Room Dynamics

After winning a special award following his batting performance during MI’s inaugural IPL 2024 victory, Rohit Sharma, the former captain of the Mumbai Indians, was asked to give a brief statement. Rohit smashed six boundaries and three maximums in his brilliant 27-ball 49. He also stitched together an 80-run opening partnership with Ishan Kishan, which set up the winning total of 234 for five. But a particular statement made during that brief Sunday dressing-room speech set off a social media firestorm, with MI supporters believing that the senior opener “doesn’t look happy.”.

“A Ro special at Wankhede” is the caption for the 55-second video that Mumbai Indians shared on social media. A Ro-specific item in the changing area,” Head coach Mark Boucher praises Rohit on his batting performance, while batting coach Kieron Pollard gives the current captain of Team India a unique badge for his work. The 36-year-old praised the team’s overall effort in his brief address, noting that MI posted their third-highest total in IPL history thanks to contributions of about 40 runs from Ishan Kishan and Tim David and an incredible 39 off of 10 balls from Romario Shepherd.

“The batting display was excellent. We’ve all been aiming for it since the very beginning. It proves that individual efforts are meaningless because if every batsman can raise their hands, look at the team target, and stand up together, we can get that kind of score, Rohit added.

Thus, it appears that we have been discussing that for a while. The captain (Pandya), Mark (Boucher), and batting coach (Pollard) all want it. Thus, Rohit continued, “It is wonderful to see, and long may it continue.” Although Rohit appeared to be encouraging the Hardik Pandya-led team to produce more performances of this nature, MI supporters felt that the former captain was “unhappy” and “uncomfortable” in the changing room, particularly after he stated, “That’s what the captain wants.”

In the absence of an official response from Rohit regarding the matter, fan theories and speculations such as these about the MI dressing room will persist. The rumors started when the franchise named Hardik as the new captain and removed the India opener from his leadership position in December of last year. Fans had theorized earlier in the day that even though Rohit and Hardik hugged following the victory over DC, their relationship was still strained because the previous captain had left out a photo of the current captain in his post-match commentary.

‘Sorry Bhai…’: Rishabh Pant Apologizes After Cameraperson Is Hit by DC Captain’s Shot

Rishabh Pant led the Delhi Capitals to a stunning four-run victory over Gujarat Titans in an IPL 2024 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday night. Pant was either side’s top scorer, hitting a 43-ball 88 to help DC beat the former champions by 224/4.

Pant smashed five fours and eight sixes during his blistering performance. Unfortunately, one of his massive sixes resulted in a cameraman from the BCCI production crew being hit during the tournament.

Pant apologized to the crew member and wished him a speedy recovery in a video message sent after the match, alongside DC head coach Ricky Ponting.

“Sorry Debashish bhai, I did not intend to hit you, but I believe you will recover well and wish you luck,” Pant said in a video published by IPL on their social media account on X.

Pant has returned to competitive cricket in fine form after more than a year recovering from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident in December 2022. The ongoing IPL is his first competitive event, and he’s been fairly effective with the bat and behind the stumps as well.

“Every day that I’m in the middle, I feel better,” Pant remarked after the game on Wednesday. “Every hour on the field is valuable; I enjoy being on the field. I strive to give everything my all, which sometimes takes some time. I believe that the first six points in a match give me confidence in the game. The longer I spend in the core, the better I feel.”

Mohit Sharma Concedes 73 Runs, Sets Record for ‘Worst Bowling Figures’ in IPL History

During Wednesday’s Indian Premier League (IPL) match between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Mohit Sharma let up the most runs in his four overs—73—which is the lowest total in the league.

In the final over, Rishabh Pant struck 31 runs with four sixes and one four, forcing Mohit to give up.

Sandeep Warrier struck in his second over, dismissing both of Delhi’s openers and taking a third wicket, as Shubman Gill continued to have faith in his opening bowlers. Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad, the spin team, were unable to fully dominate the middle segment, though.

Given that Sai Kishore had not bowled a ball before this game, Gill may have erred by not believing in Warrier for the 19th over and instead placing him in danger.

With the help of a scorching century partnership between Pant and Axar Patel as well as rapidfire half-centuries, Delhi Capitals defeated Gujarat Titans 224/4. After DC was down 44 for 3 in 6 overs, Pant and Axar used their counterattacking hitting to stitch 113 off just 68 balls for the fourth wicket.

Pant and Axar attempted to form a partnership when trailing three wickets, but once they were set, they launched a vicious attack.
