Sachin Tendulkar Jaw-Dropping Upside-Down Cover Drive in ‘Heavenly’ Kashmir Match

During a brief batting session with the locals, Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who is currently visiting Kashmir, demonstrated why he is still one of the best ten years after quitting the game. Nothing compares to Sachin with a bat—anywhere, anytime—but Tendulkar’s journey to Kashmir has been exquisitely documented on social media. He visited Pahalgam and a cricket bat manufacturing facility at Chursoo on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

In the most recent video that Tendulkar posted to his X and Instagram accounts, Sachin pulled over on a road and asked the people to play cricket. “Hum khelein?” he said, and the people there readily agreed. With the tennis ball in front of him, Tendulkar relived his childhood as he produced a few spectacular strokes, none more impressive than the one he struck off the last ball.

“Out karna padega” (You have to get me out) was Tendulkar’s statement to the bowler after he took the final ball with a hit. But then, like many great bowlers the Master Blaster faced throughout his career, he was also unable to write off Tendulkar. With the bat held upside down, Tendulkar produced a cracking sound during a cover drive, much to the delight of the spectators, including Sachin’s wife, Anjali, who was grinning broadly. Tendulkar then took a selfie with supporters to end the game. He wrote, “Cricket & Kashmir: A Match in Heaven,” as the Instagram post’s description.

In a now-viral video, Sachin was welcomed inside the aircraft with pomp and circumstance, while Tendulkar was flying economy. Tendulkar was utterly amazed by the public’s turn of the aircraft into a stadium, as they greeted him with the famous ‘Sachin, Sachin’ chants. Tendulkar examined and studied a few bats closely while he was at the MJ Bat Manufacturing Company. There is a great deal of enthusiasm for Kashmir willow bats in India, and it turns out that Tendulkar tried his hand at cricket with one. Sachin knocked on some Kashmir Willow bats and told a fascinating story that many people might not know.

“My sister gave me the first bat she ever gave me—a Kashmir willow bat. Ab main yahaan hoon to milna banta hai Kashmir willow ko. (Since I’m in Kashmir, I have to meet a willow.) P.S. Here’s an intriguing fact: just roughly 5–6 grains were present in some of my favorite bats. “How many grains are there in your bats?” He asked a question.

Tendulkar’s last match

Although Tendulkar announced his retirement from the professional game of cricket in November 2013, he occasionally makes an appearance in exhibition matches. He participated in the 2014 MCC vs. Rest of the World Cup matches as well as the Cricket All Stars Series, leading ‘Sachin’s Masters’ against the legendary ‘Warne’s Warriors’ of the late Shane Warne. Tendulkar has also been leading the Road Safety World Series’ India Legends and made a cameo appearance at a charity match to support Australian bushfire victims.
