Ray Stevenson

The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of Irish actor Ray Stevenson, who portrayed the villainous British Raj governor of Delhi in the film ‘RRR’. Although he played a menacing character on screen, Stevenson was beloved by the cast and crew, as evident from director S. S. Rajamouli’s heartfelt tribute upon hearing the news of his passing.

Rajamouli turned to Twitter to express his shock and stated, “Shocking. Simply unable to believe this news. Ray infused the sets with an enormous amount of vigour and enthusiasm. It spread easily. Working with him was a true pleasure. His family is in my prayers and in my thoughts. May he rest in peace, his soul.

Stevenson, who passed away at the age of 58, had a career that spanned TV shows in the 1990s and later transitioned to action roles in Hollywood films, most notably portraying Volstagg in Marvel’s ‘Thor’ franchise.

His breakthrough came with Antoine Fuqua’s 2004 adventure film ‘King Arthur’, where he played the valiant Knight of the Round Table, Dagonet. Stevenson’s character sacrificed himself in battle to aid Arthur (Clive Owen) and his fellow warriors, according to ‘Variety’.

In 2008, he took on the lead role in Marvel’s ‘Punisher: War Zone’, portraying the ruthless mercenary Frank Castle, as reported by ‘Variety’.

Before his untimely passing, Stevenson had been working on the upcoming action-adventure limited series ‘Ahsoka’, a spin-off from the Star Wars franchise. He portrayed Baylan Skoll, a surviving Jedi who escaped the events of Order 66 by seeking refuge in the Unknown Regions. Serving as a mentor to Shin and an ally to Thrawn, this role marked his final on-screen performance.

Ray Stevenson’s demise leaves a void in the industry, and his legacy as a versatile and talented actor will be remembered by fans and colleagues alike.

Ashoke Pandit Calls for CBI Investigation into Vishal’s Bribery Allegations at CBFC

CBI Investigation

Former CBFC member Ashoke Pandit urged a CBI investigation into the actor Vishal’s allegations that he paid a bribe of 6.5 lakh rupees for the certification of his new movie Mark Antony at the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) office in Mumbai. The director also asserted, in an interview with India Today, that those who took the money are not a part of the board or its office.

The charges made by Tamil actor Vishal are being investigated, according to a Friday announcement from the national Information and Broadcasting Ministry. According to Ashoke, the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association is writing Prasoon Joshi and requesting a CBI investigation into these allegations. Ashoke made this statement to the news website. Whoever the money was handed to has to be examined since the people who stole it are not CBFC employees.

The problem of corruption in CBFC brought up by actor @VishalKOfficial is exceedingly terrible, and the ministry has opened an investigation into it, according to a tweet on X (previously known as Twitter) from the official handle of the ministry. The government would take the harshest measures against anyone discovered to be involved in corruption.

CBI Investigation

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has sent a top officer to Mumbai to start an investigation right now.

In a video he put online, Vishal accused CBFC employees at the Mumbai headquarters of accepting bribes. He said that in exchange for the screening and a U/A certificate for his movie, he was requested to pay 6.5 lakh. On September 28, his movie Mark Antony was released in Hindi. Vishal included information on the bank accounts where the bribe was split into two payments in his post.

The identities named by Vishal, according to Ashoke, are not CBFC officials, “It is not appropriate to accuse a CBFC officer at this time… However, given the seriousness of the charges, we demand a CBI investigation if any are being made. Any official who wants money will obviously not deposit it (directly) into his account. The two persons he mentioned at the CBFC ought to be questioned about whether they accepted the funds on someone else’s behalf. High-level investigation ought to be started, according to Ashoke Pandit.
