Rinku Singh Deserves a Chance in Team India, Similar to Suryakumar Yadav’s Journey

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the Indian cricket team for the upcoming T20 series against West Indies, set to commence on August 3. Notable experienced players such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been given rest for this series, with the team’s leadership entrusted to Hardik Pandya. However, concerns have been raised over the selection committee’s exclusion of a player who could potentially serve as the team’s finest finisher in the future.
This player, who has been subject to perceived injustice, is none other than Rinku Singh. Similar to the treatment Suryakumar Yadav received in the past, Rinku appears to be facing discrimination from the selectors. Suryakumar had to overcome numerous setbacks before making his way into the Indian team, despite showcasing exceptional batting skills in the IPL.
Until 2020, Suryakumar struggled to secure a place in Team India, but finally got an opportunity in 2021. It is hoped that Rinku Singh does not face a similar fate. With his impressive strike rate of around 150, Rinku possesses the potential to significantly contribute to Team India’s success in the future. However, it is crucial that he is given the opportunity he deserves.
Rinku Singh’s outstanding performance in IPL 2023 garnered attention and admiration. He gained prominence after smashing Yash Dayal for five consecutive sixes in an over, leading Kolkata to victory. Throughout the season, he emerged as KKR’s leading run-scorer, accumulating 474 runs in 14 matches at an average of 59.25, including four half-centuries.
Despite his remarkable achievements, Rinku has yet to receive a chance to represent Team India. However, he is already being touted as the next MS Dhoni for the national side. The question remains as to when Rinku will be given the opportunity to showcase his skills and contribute to Team India’s success.
