Bengaluru Blast: Unraveling the Rameshwaram Cafe Suspect – 10 Key Insights from Karnataka Authorities

On Friday, a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory, the bomb disposal squad, and the dog squad looked into the explosion that occurred at The Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Whitefield on Thursday. Ten individuals were hurt in the explosion.

Here are the top updates on the Rameshwaram Cafe blast in Bengaluru:

  1. The suspect appears to have arrived at the cafe by public bus, according to remarks made by Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara on Saturday morning. He stated that, in search of tangible proof, the police are going through CCTV video. “We have formed a number of teams. We have some CCTV footage that we have gathered. That was the route taken by a BMTC bus at the time of the explosion. It is known to us that he arrived via bus. The accused will be taken into custody as soon as we can,” he declared.
  2. According to G. Parameshwara, the blast was set off using a timer. “Our teams are performing admirably. The FSL crew is working on the explosion, and a timer was utilized. At 1:00 p.m., we have a meeting. High-ranking police officers will meet with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to discuss the blast, he announced.
  3. To investigate the explosion, the Karnataka government has constituted eight committees. On Friday, Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar reported that a man had a little bag at the Rameshwaram cafe. An hour later, the bag detonated. It was an explosion of modest intensity. A young person arrived and took a tiny bag, which burst an hour later. Ten or so people were hurt. 7-8 teams have been assembled to look into the event. We are examining everything. “I urge all Bangaloreans to be at ease,” he uttered.
  4. According to the report, a security guard who was outside the cafe when the explosion occurred saw it happen. The motel was full of patrons. Abruptly, there was a tremendous noise, and there was a fire inside the hotel, injuring people.
  5. Per DK Shivakumar, the man looks to be in his 28s or 30s. He ordered Rava Idli when he arrived at the cafe for breakfast. But after paying for the meal, he departed without finishing it.
  6. The man carried a bag that contained an IED. A one-hour timer was included. The bag, according to an officer, was behind a woman who was seated with six other patrons.
  7. The explosion happened at 1:00 p.m. It took place in the Rameshwaram Cafe. A young man, who looked to be in his 28s or 30s, entered the cafe, paid for the Rava Idli at the counter, put the bag next to a tree, and walked out. The explosion happened an hour later, according to Shivakumar.
  8. On Friday, a team from the NIA went to the blast site. Pralhad Joshi, a union minister, called for an NIA probe into the explosion. “The state government should advise this, the NIA should look into this, and we vehemently condemn this explosion. “These incidents are occurring because the Congress is encouraging and supporting people who are becoming radicalized,” he stated.
  9. Joshi further linked the explosion to radicalization in the state run by the Congress. The Karnataka assembly’s purportedly pro-Pakistan slogans were also mentioned by him. “This event might not have happened if the state’s Congress government had treated the Vidhana Soudha pro-Pakistan sloganeering incident seriously. The state administration responded to the Vidhana Soudha tragedy in a “silly” manner, treating the entire incident with a “casual reaction.” More appeasement politics lead to a rise in radicalization, which feeds into the development of terrorism,” the speaker stated.
  10. The police are following multiple leads, according to the commissioner of Bengaluru police on Saturday. “The inquiry into the event at the Rameshwaram cafe is ongoing. Several teams are working on different leads obtained so far. He wrote on X, “The media is urged not to engage in conjecture and to collaborate, given the sensitivity of the issue and the security considerations.

Bomb Threat Targets 6 Ahmedabad Schools; Police Trace Email Domain Outside India

Today, threatening emails were sent to many schools in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, following considerable hysteria in the national capital region following a hoax bomb threat to schools in Delhi and its surrounding areas that caused widespread fear. Preliminary reports state that emails containing bomb threats were sent to at least six schools in one of Gujarat’s largest cities. The bomb disposal squad and the criminal branch teams have arrived at the schools to conduct investigations.

Lavina Sinha of the DCP Cybercrime Branch stated that the email domain is not located in India. “Emails threatening bomb blasts have been sent to many Ahmedabad schools. Six schools have so far received these emails and notified us of them. This appears to be similar to the bomb threats that Delhi’s schools got a few days ago,” the officer continued.

What happened in Delhi last week?

In their formal complaint, the Delhi Police stated that the threats were intended to cause widespread fear and disrupt public order in the nation’s capital, following the receipt of bogus emails from over 200 schools earlier this month. Under IPC sections 505 (2) (statements fostering or encouraging enmity, animosity, or ill-will between classes), 507 (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication), and 120 (B) (penalty of criminal conspiracy), Delhi Police’s Special Cell has filed a formal complaint.

The Delhi Police deemed the threat to be fake after conducting a thorough search. Links to the phony emails have been discovered by the police abroad. To identify the precise source of the emails, the Delhi Police earlier this week contacted Mail.ru, a Russian mailing service provider, through Interpol.

The police had also advised CBI to contact Interpol to obtain information on the email threats. The fake emails sent from sawariim@mail.ru’ were from Delhi. The Russian corporation has been ordered by the authorities to track the IP address of the machine that sent out the bulk emails. According to reports, the sender concealed his identity by using a virtual private network (VPN).

Uttarakhand Wildfire Claims Fifth Life in Three Days; Rain Expected This Week

Another life lost to raging flames in the Uttarakhand woods brought the total for the previous three days to five. On Saturday, a 28-year-old lady passed away from her burn injuries. Three days prior, the victim, Pooja, a laborer from Nepal, had attempted to put out a fire at a pine resin business in the Almora area but had suffered serious burn injuries. Last week, while fighting the same fire, her husband and two other people perished. According to reports, a 65-year-old lady who was brought to AIIMS Rishikesh on Sunday passed away from burn injuries she sustained while attempting to put out a forest fire that had reached her property in a hamlet in the Pauri tehsil. An official stated on Friday that three laborers perished from burn injuries they received while putting out a forest fire that had spread near their pine resin factory in Almora.

As the fire consumed the entrance to the sanctuary on Saturday, pilgrims to the Dunagiri temple in the Almora area were forced to evacuate. The swift expansion of the blaze has been attributed by forest experts to strong gusts. A report claims that because of poor visibility, aircraft arrivals at Pithoragarh’s Naini-Saini airport have ceased. Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, called a review meeting on Saturday to discuss the forest fires and instructed the authorities to devise a plan for quickly putting out the fire. Research states that since November 1, 2023, there have been 910 forest fire occurrences in the state, destroying around 1145 hectares of forest.

RAIN LIKELY FROM MAY 7

Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center in Dehradun, suggested that rain may fall in the state between May 7 and May 8, with heavier precipitation starting on May 11. This may assist in putting out the forest fires, he said.
