AB de Villiers Praises Sanju Samson’s

The legendary Proteas player AB de Villiers talked on Sanju Samson’s inclusion in the Indian side for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa.

Against South Africa in their upcoming ODI series, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson will be hoping to leave an effect. No mention of the 2023 World Cup probably made him unhappy. For their impending visit to South Africa, India has cut various players from their ODI squad, including Mohammed Shami, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, and Rohit Sharma.

KL Rahul, a pivotal player from India’s 2023 World Cup team that Australia eliminated in the final, will lead the ODI team. The focus will be on Samson, who was also overlooked for India’s current Twenty20 International Series against Australia.

The legendary AB de Villiers of the RCB praised Samson’s homecoming. On his YouTube channel, he said, “I’m happy to have him on the team. He’ll take pleasure in the South African wickets. He gets up when he bats. There is some movement and bounce, and every batter will be put to the test.”

Sanju Samson’s Crucial Moment

Samson’s selection for the Indian side has been wildly erratic since his ODI debut in 2021. He has scored 390 runs at an average of 55.71 and 104 strike rate in 13 ODIs thus far, including three half-centuries. Samson will be looking to use this opportunity and refute his detractors.Selectors might offer him more chances if he does well because players like Rohit and Kohli are getting closer to the conclusion of their careers.

Unpaid ₹3.16 Crore Bill Causes Electricity Disruption

A major obstacle must be overcome hours before India and Australia play in their fourth Twenty20 International cricket match at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh stadium in Raipur: a substantial portion of the venue is without electricity. According to reports, the problem is a 2009 electrical bill that hasn’t been paid.

Five years ago, the stadium’s power supply was disconnected due to an unpaid debt of ₹3.16 crore. Although there is a makeshift electrical connection, it is solely used for the boxes and spectator gallery. As a result, the magazine stated, the stadium authorities want to run generators to power the floodlights during the game.

The Raipur Rural Circle in-charge, Ashok Khandelwal, stated that the secretary of the Cricket Association had requested an increase in the temporary connection’s capacity. The upgrade to 1,000 KV has been approved, but it has not yet been put into practice.

The stadium has experienced electrical problems in the past. In 2018, the absence of electricity supply took half-marathon runners off surprise. Then it was disclosed that, according to the magazine, the stadium’s electrical bills had been rising since 2009.

Electricity Bill Sparks Dispute Between PWD and Sports Department

The Public Works Department (PWD) was initially tasked with maintaining the stadium, with the Sports Department covering additional costs. But because of the overdue power payment, there has been a blame game between the two departments.

The electrical provider has sent the PWD and the Sports Department several reminders regarding the unpaid dues, but they have not been paid. Since the 2018 power outage, the stadium has hosted three international cricket matches, yet this financial impasse has remained.

The Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (CSCS) media coordinator, Tarunesh Singh Parihar, voiced reservations about holding international matches under these circumstances. He claims that as a workaround, the stadium uses generators for big events, as per reports. In the name of CSCS, a temporary link has been made, he continued.
