Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh Valiant Effort Not Enough as SRH Beats KKR by 23 Runs

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won a high-scoring match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 23 runs at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. Despite Nitish Rana’s impressive captain’s knock of 75 runs off 41 balls, KKR failed to chase down the mammoth target of 228 runs set by SRH. Rana hit six sixes and five boundaries in his innings, but lacked support from the rest of the KKR batsmen, except for Rinku Singh’s unbeaten 58 off 31 balls.
Chasing the target, KKR lost three early wickets and were struggling at 23/3 when Rana and N Jagadeesan (36 off 21) put up a 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket. But Mayank Markande broke the partnership, dismissing Jagadeesan in the 9th over. Rana and Rinku tried to release pressure with their big hits, but Rana fell in the 18th over after scoring 75 runs, leaving KKR needing 48 runs off 12 balls.
Rinku Singh’s brilliant performance in the penultimate over, where he hit four boundaries off the next five balls, brought the equation to 31 runs off the final over. However, despite Rinku hitting a massive six, SRH’s Umran Malik successfully defended 31 runs, ensuring the win for his team. Harry Brooks was the top scorer for SRH with an unbeaten 100 off 55 balls, while Andre Russell took three wickets for KKR.
