The choice was made to stop the franchise’s downward trend when Hardik was named captain. MI has not won the trophy in three years. For eight years, from 2013 to 2020, the team made it a routine to win one IPL title every season. Hardik was supposed to infuse new energy into the MI camp after leading the Gujarat Titans to one championship and one runner-up position during the previous two seasons, but that hasn’t happened yet.
