Mumbai Indians Announce Replacement for Injured Jhye Richardson in IPL 2023
In a positive development for Mumbai Indians, they have found a replacement for the injured Jhye Richardson, who is out of IPL 2023. The team has called up Australian fast bowler Riley Meredith, who was unsold in the auction for the 16th season of IPL.
Meredith, who previously played for Punjab Kings in IPL, has been included in Mumbai Indians at the same base price of 1.50 crores for which Richardson was bought. The fast bowler has already made his IPL debut in 2022, where he took 12 wickets in 13 matches with an economy rate of 9.
Hailing from Australia, Meredith has played five T20 matches for his country and has taken eight wickets with an economy of 9.98. He will now don the Mumbai Indians jersey in IPL 2023, hoping to make a mark in the league.
On the other hand, Jhye Richardson’s injury woes continue. The fast bowler had a hamstring problem during the Big Bash League earlier this year, and the problem resurfaced during the ODI series against India. As a result, he had to miss the first ODI and is now ruled out of IPL 2023 as well.
Mumbai Indians will be hoping that Riley Meredith can fill the void left by Richardson and contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming matches.
