During CSK vs. RCB, Virat Kohli dances to the song “Apdi Pode” in front of the Chennai crowd

Though Virat Kohli failed to accomplish anything with the bats in the IPL 2024 opening match, he managed to keep the Chennai audience entertained at the M. A. Chidambaram stadium, often referred to as Chepauk.

The IPL 2024 season opened at Chepauk on Friday with a match involving defending champions CSK and RCB. The vice president of RCB, Faf du Plessis, chose to bat after gaining the toss and scoring 173 runs.

Virat Kohli then shook his leg and danced to the well-known South Indian song “Apdi Pode” while he was standing close to the boundary line during CSK’s innings. Kohli shook his body and turned to face the Chepauk throng as the DJ cranked up the intensity of the high-octane tune. Then he began to dance a little as well. This moment from the 35-year-old RCB star, who is a global fan favourite, was adored by the Chennai fans.

Du Plessis scored 35 runs in just 23 balls to help RCB get off to a strong start. Virat Kohli stayed out of the strike for the whole of the powerplay. After Du Plessis was removed in the fifth over, RCB fell from 41/0 to 42/3. Due to the birth of his child, Kohli missed the whole India vs. England Test series. He was unable to connect with his shots today on either side of the wicket, which had a little additional bounce in the early going before flattening down.

Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra teamed to take a relay catch after Virat Kohli was superbly collected by them on the legside boundary, giving Mustafizure Rahman his wicket.
