Azad was born in 2011 through a surrogate to Aamir Khan and Kiran. Azad was co-parented by them after their divorce. “I had a great time with Azad. Those were some of my most fruitful years. I will never regret not having produced a movie for ten years. I had a great time, so I don’t regret anything,” she stated in the interview.

Opting for surrogacy

In a 2013 interview, Kiran discussed her decision to use a surrogate. The reasons why someone can’t conceive naturally or why they prefer one procedure over another are private matters, and people generally don’t want to discuss them. We decided to be transparent. We were aware that we would always be questioned about it because we are in the public spotlight, and we have never felt defensive about it. Naturally, it would be beneficial for people to know about our experience, she stated.
