Irfan Pathan suggests that KL Rahul bat in the middle order for the 2024 Indian Premier League

Previous Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan bolsters the thought of KL Rahul batting lower within the lineup for the Lucknow Super Monsters in the up-and-coming 2024 season of the Indian Chiefs Association (IPL). The IPL 2024 is planned to commence on March 23.

As the captain of LSG, Rahul points out his abilities to the Indian group selectors ahead of the 2024 T20 World Container, planned to be put within the West Indies and USA in June this year.  Pathan communicated to Star Sports that having Rahul bat lower within the range can be a practical alternative for LSG.

Within the past 2023 season, Rahul, who ordinarily opens the batting for LSG, had his campaign abbreviated due to a hip injury supported by the association. Pathan said: “He may be with gears in a time of programmed cars. He can bat in any order, from first to fifth. He indeed encompasses a sixth team. So considering that KL Rahul batting down the order might not be awful at all.”

Pathan further suggested that if Rahul bats lower within the range, it might clear the way for South Africa’s Quinton de Kock and the West Indies’ power-hitter Kyle Mayers to open the batting for the Lucknow-based establishment. Mayers showcased his ability by scoring 379 runs in 13 matches in the final season, while De Kock, despite playing as if it were four matches, managed to score 143 runs.

He included: “It may well be for the group and him as well. The group combination might incorporate both Quinton de Kock and Kyle Mayers in such a situation. In case both of them get a place, they can go with an all-Indian pace attack.”  Pathan too lauded LSG’s quick bowling quality, highlighting his reverence for Yash Thakur’s execution final season and inviting the expansion of Shivam Mavi. He said that LSG secured Mavi for Rs 6.40 crore during the mini-auction held in Dubai last year. “Their quick bowling is very great. We were exceptionally awed by the way Yash Thakur bowled his final year. The Jammu and Kashmir boy, Yudhvir Singh Charak, too, bowled exceptionally well. Mohsin Khan, if he remains fit, is a resource for his team as a left-arm bowler. They have obtained Shivam Mavi as well, which suggests they need to express pace since the nature of the Lucknow pitch has changed slightly,” said Pathan.  The up-and-coming 2024 IPL season offers players, both from India and abroad, a pivotal opportunity to secure their places in their national teams ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup. With the competition planned a month after the IPL concludes, exhibitions within the alliance seem to impact group choices altogether.
