IPL 2024: Season of Returns, Swansong, Loyalty Tests, and New Beginnings

General elections will soon take place as the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League gets underway, and the nation is looking forward to a T20 World Cup. One thing is certain: IPL 2024 will go down in league history as a remarkable season, even if the first 21 games of the league’s schedule have been revealed. It is uncertain, though, if the tournament will be held nationally. The league may say goodbye to the final “icon players” from 2008 in this particular season.

For a handful of the league’s true legends, this season may be their last. The season of new beginnings will also bring with it a chance for crown prince Shubman Gill to begin his legacy at the Gujarat Titans and a second chance at life for veteran Rishabh Pant. As soon as Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya reaches the field, the fans’ devotion will be put to the test, unlike anything before. Pat Cummins, the record-breaking IPL 2024 auction winner and the winner of two ICC trophies the year before, will give SRH a chance to win the IPL crown this season. IPL 2024 will serve as the trial run for the T20 World Cup selection process for Sanju Samson, Jitesh Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and a plethora of other incredibly gifted “fringe players.”

MS Dhoni: The Swansong

The fans’ appetite for another season of the T20 extravaganza has been stoked by Dhoni. One day before the first game, he handed up the captaincy of CSK to Ruturaj Gaikwad. As Dhoni was the final player standing who had captained a franchise during the IPL’s very first season in 2008, the IPL has officially entered a new era. Both the youthful Gaikwad and the CSK fan base will be put to the test greatly. IPL 2023 appeared to be the legendary player’s farewell season, and the title victory in the most spectacular way possible was the ideal scenario. However, Dhoni, being Dhoni, did not take away the spotlight from his team, and it appears that IPL 2024 will be his final.

Return of Rishabh Pant

Even though supporters will be cheering for MSD in his final innings, there will also be many people supporting another wicketkeeper batter as he prepares for an incredible comeback that seemed unthinkable only 14 months ago. In the grand scheme of things, India needs their maverick for the T20 World Cup after missing the WTC final and the 2023 World Cup, and IPL 2024 offers the ideal platform for him and the Indian management to assess where Pant stands after recovering from the horrific accident. As the season goes on, Rishabh Pant’s story will be told repeatedly. This is not just because his return is a boost to the Delhi Capitals.

Bollywood entertainer Athiya Shetty shared an enigmatic post days after her better half, cricketer KL Rahul, turned into the eye of an IPL storm. A video became famous online when Goenka and Rahul appeared in a live discussion. Many assumed that the LSG proprietor was giving Rahul a tongue-lashing.

While fans have reprimanded Goenka for his way of behaving, neither Suniel Shetty nor Athiya Shetty have commented on the new development. Nonetheless, on Monday, Athiya shared a post that talked about ‘quiet after a tempest.’ Taking to her Instagram Stories, Athiya shared an image of the sun radiating through a sky loaded with mists and expressed, “The quiet after the tempest.”
