India vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2023 Final: SL win the toss, choose to bat

Asia Cup 2023 Final
Today in Colombo, the Asia Cup 2023’s championship match will feature India vs. Sri Lanka. At the PR Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, the thrilling championship match is set to begin at 3 p.m. Indian time. Both teams have 11 victories apiece, keeping their competition in the Asia Cup on an equal keel. The toss was won by Sri Lanka, who elected to bat first.
Over the course of the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka has established themselves as one of the competition’s most threatening teams. A combination of inexperienced part-timers and young bowlers has made scoring against them challenging, while players like Kusal Mendis have delivered the goods with their bowling despite missing nearly their whole frontline attack.
Their most recent match was in a loss to Bangladesh, however the most of their star players chose to sit it out. Strong performances have come from Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul, while Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill have all been clicking.
Prior to the final, both sides suffered from injury setbacks, however Sri Lanka may have been more adversely affected. Washington Sundar has been flown in as backup for India despite the loss of Axar Patel for this game and maybe the forthcoming series against Australia.
Sundar, on the other hand, has been selected for the Indian second string team to compete in the Asian Games later this month, making it doubtful that he would be selected for the World Cup squad.
The World Cup taking place next month casts a larger shadow on the final, the whole tournament, and every other international ODI game right now.
However, it must be acknowledged that there may be tension today given that the Asia Cup has been India’s lone multi-team tournament success in the ten years following their Champions Trophy triumph in 2013. They last raised this trophy in 2018, back then. This game serves as practically a replica of the strain Rohit Sharma’s team would experience in the major knockout games as they attempt to recover the World Cup at home next month.
A few key pointers about the 2023 Asia Cup final between India and Sri Lanka:
1. In ODIs, India has faced Sri Lanka 166 times.
2. Sri Lanka has won 57 of the games, whereas India has won 97 of them. Eleven games concluded without a decision, while one finished in a tie.
3. India defeated Sri Lanka by 41 runs the previous time the two teams played in the Super 4 stage of this competition.
4. The two teams have faced one other in 20 ODI matches in the Asia Cup, with each side winning an equal number of games.
5. Rain and thunderstorms are anticipated in Colombo this evening, which might cause delays in the final.
6. In the event of a washout on the day of the final, a reserve day is available.
