How Steve Smith Fooled India By Using A “Loophole” In The Cricket Rules. Former Star Describes

Steve Smith would frequently be seen pleading for stumping while Alex Carey removed the bails. Parthiv Patel, a former Indian player, claims that the Steve Smith-led visitors took full advantage of this rulebook loophole.

On the second day of the third Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India, Australia pulled off a cunning deception in which Steve Smith frequently saw wicketkeeper Alex Carey removing the bails. The visitors in Indore, led by Steve Smith, took advantage of this rule’s loophole, according to former India player Parthiv Patel. “Did you observe that during stumping calls, bail was removed and an appeal was made to have the catch reviewed as well? Is this not unfair? You are keeping DRS evaluations. How do you feel? “On Cricbuzz, a user inquired.

“The regulation has a flaw. If the umpire requested assistance from the third umpire, you must go through the entire process if there is an appeal of stumping. Moreover, they’ll check to see if the batter edged or not. He took advantage of the weakness as he is aware of it. There are two possible answers to this. One, since the on-field umpire is so certain that it is not out, he should refrain from going to the third umpire to confirm that it is still in when there is an appeal. The TV umpire should only assess the stumping if the appeal is only for a stumping, as this is the optimal course of action. Unless the fielding captain chooses to review the situation, a caught behind should not be checked. Check for that just when there is a caught behind or LBW appeal, said Parthiv Patel on Cricbuzz.

Day 2 of Australia’s innings began at 156/4, with Peter Handscomb (7*) and Cameron Green (6*) both still standing. However, the speedster Umesh Yadav (3/12) and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (3/44) brought to the game such a cocktail of pace and spin that Australia lost the remaining six of their wickets in the span of 41 runs, bowling themselves out for 197.

With an 88-run deficit, Team India’s aim was to withstand Australian spinners and compile an impressive score. But in the end, Nathan Lyon, who claimed eight wickets for 64 runs, drove the home team’s batting order to its knees. Mitchell Starc and Matthew Kuhnemann both claimed a wicket.

During CSK’s practice game in Chennai, a large gathering of MS Dhoni-intoxicated fans swarmed the arena, cheering for their ‘Thala’ and crowding outside a glass-paneled gym room to cheer as he pulled down weight on a power rack. However, after 25 minutes of cheering for Dhoni, the fans started to chant ‘Ben Stokes’, which swelled around the arena like an aural wave. This was an endorsement from the Yellove faithful about CSK’s future direction, pointing towards England’s charismatic Ben Stokes. The team’s social media handles have already started billing Stokes as the ‘Chosen one’ with hit numbers from Tamil movies playing in the backdrop. Songs of Rajnikanth, which were usually reserved for Dhoni, were found in posts for Stokes. The team has had star-studded overseas players in the past, including the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Matthew Hayden, Mike Hussey, and Brendon McCullum, but none have had the sort of reception that Stokes has managed to pull off so far.

The latest buzz on social media is the picture of Ravindra Jadeja and Ben Stokes donning the Chennai Super Kings jersey together. Fans couldn’t contain their excitement as they witnessed two of the best all-rounders in the cricket world playing for the same team in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Jadeja has been a star player in the CSK roster, while Stokes was acquired during the auction ahead of the 16th edition of the T20 league.

The picture of the two players sitting together in a training session went viral on social media, with fans comparing the duo to football legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo playing for the same team. The Chennai Super Kings shared the picture on their official Twitter handle, setting the micro-blogging site on fire.

Some fans are even speculating that Stokes could be a potential captaincy candidate for the team, especially with MS Dhoni expected to leave the franchise in a season or two. Meanwhile, Chennai successfully acquired Stokes’ services at a staggering price of Rs. 16.25 Cr during the IPL 2023 auction, after engaging in a bidding war with PBKS for Curran.

If Dhoni decides to retire from the franchise after this season, Stokes could be given the responsibility, given his success as England’s Test captain. Apart from Stokes, CSK also bought Ajinkya Rahane at a base price of Rs. 50 lakh. Interestingly, Dhoni, Stokes, and Rahane had previously played together for the Rising Pune Supergiants in IPL 2017.
