Fans Give Dhoni a Farewell in Kolkata as CSK Move to No. 1 Spot in IPL 2023

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) put on a dominating performance against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 33rd match of IPL 2023, held at the Eden Gardens. The CSK top-order batsmen Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shivam Dube played brilliantly and led the team to set an IPL record of 235 runs on the scoreboard. In return, KKR was restricted to 186 for eight, giving CSK a resounding victory by 49 runs. Rahane top-scored with an unbeaten 71 off 29 balls, while Conway made 56 runs from 40 balls and Dube contributed 50 runs from just 21 balls. With this win, CSK moves to the top of the IPL 2023 points table, having won five out of seven matches played this year.
The supporters flocked to the Eden Gardens in great numbers to support CSK because this IPL season is probably MS Dhoni’s last. Seeing the massive turnout of yellow jerseys, Dhoni expressed his gratitude for the fans by saying that they were trying to give him a farewell.
In the post-match presentation, Dhoni praised CSK’s bowlers and said that they have been putting in collective efforts in the last few matches, resulting in their move to the top of the points table. Fast bowlers and middle-order spinners are both doing their jobs, he continued. The pitch was short on one side, so we wanted to grab early wickets to keep up the pressure. We wanted to respect them since they have a lot of power hitters.
