Election Commission Recognizes AAP as National Party, Trinamool Congress Loses National Status

The Election Commission has recognized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as a national party and revoked the national party status of the All India Trinamool Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Communist Party of India (CPI). It also revoked the state party status of several parties including RLD in Uttar Pradesh, BRS in Andhra Pradesh, PDA in Manipur, PMK in Puducherry, RSP in West Bengal, and MPC in Mizoram.

The decision was based on AAP’s electoral performance in four states – Delhi, Goa, Punjab, and Gujarat where it is currently in power. The BJP, Congress, CPI(M), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), National People’s Party (NPP), and AAP are now national parties. The status of NCP, CPI, and Trinamool Congress will be withdrawn, but they will be recognized as state parties in Nagaland and Meghalaya respectively based on their performance in the recent assembly elections.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal thanked people for the party’s success and termed it “nothing less than a miracle”. Losing national party status means a party’s members cannot use a common symbol in states where the party is not recognized.

India has become a hub for unemployment under PM Modi: Rahul Gandhi in Bihar

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, charged on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was making the nation “a centre of unemployment” and declared that should the opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc win the election, it would guarantee “a first job guarantee” to all graduates and diploma holders by offering them a year-long paid apprenticeship.

Gandhi attacked the Modi government during an electoral rally in Bhagalpur, Bihar, bringing up topics like unemployment and economic hardship.

On April 26, the constituencies of Kishanganj, Purnea, Katihar, Bhagalpur, and Banka will host the second round of voting. On Friday, the first phase of elections was held in Gaya (SC), Aurangabad, Jamui (SC), and Nawada.

Because they don’t have work, Gandhi claimed that the majority of young people spend seven to eight hours a day on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms. “The nation’s unemployment rate has increased under Modi. Demonetisation and the incorrect Goods and Services Tax regime have decimated those who can create jobs,” he asserted.

Declaring that the alliance would guarantee the “first job guarantee” for all graduates and diploma holders by offering them ₹1 lakh each year and allowing them to join the apprenticeship program for a year with various industries under the private and public sectors, he presented the INDIA bloc’s vision for economic empowerment and job market transformation. “The industries where they complete their internships will hire the better performers, and the unemployed trained labour force in the nation will comprise the remaining group,” he continued.

Gandhi claimed that the government had forgiven the debt of roughly ₹16 lakh crore that 20–22 industrial houses owed, and he stated that the money that had been waived for businesspeople would be used to support the economic empowerment of the community. “We plan to provide ₹1 lakh, or ₹8,500 per month, to one woman in every impoverished family within a year. The Wayanad Congress MP stated that the money would be used for the welfare of the family.

Gandhi added that just “22 people of the country” were able to acquire assets worth more than 70 crore people when combined and that the Modi-led administration was responsible for exacerbating the gap between the rich and the poor.

The LJP leader responds, “I don’t,” to the abuse spoken at Chirag Paswan’s mother during Tejashwi Yadav’s rally

After footage of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) members abusing the mother of Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan, Veena Paswan, went viral on social media on Thursday, the political climate in Bihar heated up. The event happened at a rally in Jamui seat for former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was reportedly there when the crowd began yelling insults at Chirag Paswan’s mother in photos that went popular on social media.

Chirag Paswan called a press conference shortly after seeing the viral footage and voiced his severe condemnation of the incident that happened in front of the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. Chirag Paswan attacked Tejashwi, saying, “There is no difference between his mother and my mother for me,” after expressing his anguish over the offensive film that targeted his mother.

Had I been at his place, I would have responded. No family man would, in my opinion, put up with this abuse. Women make up half of our population, therefore I think it’s time we started treating them with respect,” he continued.

Notably, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Chirag Paswan won the seat for Jamui. But this time, he declared his brother-in-law Arun Bharti’s candidacy for the position.

Attacks by the BJP J.D.

“RJD is irritated as they are losing the election,” claimed BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain in response to the widely shared video that showed insults directed at the mother of LJP Chief Chirag Paswan. They’re mistreating people now. In front of Tejashwi Yadav and other RJD leaders, Chirag Paswan’s mother was mistreated. No one halted. In Bihar, it’s never happened. That is not appropriate.
