IPL 2024: CSK Major Concern Ahead of 17th Season Revealed – It’s Not MS Dhoni’s Fitness!

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will attempt to win a historic 6th IPL title after taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 22. Thanks to a heroic effort by Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni’s squad overcame Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans in the past year’s championship match. It would be curious to observe how the 42-year-old Dhoni performs in an unused season. Dhoni’s wellness will be stressful because of his history of issues with his right knee. Earlier in the IPL 2023, Dhoni was spotted playing with a strapped knee. He is ranked far too low in the batting order because of this. Dhoni plays well with his injury, even though he must hold wickets against both pacers and spinners for 20 overs. Being a keeper at 42 is not an easy feat, particularly if you play cricket for just two months of the year.

That being said, Dhoni is not very concerned about this problematic knee. As a sort of captain, Dhoni dislikes taking the lead while using a laptop. That is to say, he is not a big believer in data science being used to match athletes with different opponents. He follows his gut and prefers to have a core group of players participate in every game. Devon Conway, the opener at CSK, is one of them. Conway is hurt right now. He will be out for eight weeks. During the T20I series between Australia and New Zealand, he had a thumb injury. He had surgery as well, so he might miss the first few games of the 2024 Indian Premier League. Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s opening combination has been one of CSK’s greatest assets, so this is a major setback for them.

During the same Twenty20 Internationals, Rachin Ravindra also experienced knee problems, but he recovered quickly and is expected to join the CSK team as soon as the Australia Tests conclude. Furthermore, a side strain kept CSK’s middle-order batsman Shivam Dube out of the Ranji Trophy 2024 elimination stages, and it’s unclear if the all-rounder will be available for the Vidarbha final, which begins on March 10. Dube had a fantastic Ranji Trophy season, scoring two hundred and fifty runs in five Mumbai matches, totaling 407 runs.
